From waste glass to CARRY Bottle
How are the CARRY Bottles made?
Our CARRY Bottles should be as sustainable as possible - from the materials, to the production, to the use! The CARRY Bottles are therefore made from 60% recycled broken glass ! The remaining 40% are quartz sand, lime and soda, the classic raw materials for glass production.
Our glass bottles are produced in southern Lower Saxony, because a regional and short supply chain is important to us. A lot of thought has also gone into the choice of our materials and the further production process. We share this with you here :)
We use around 60% of old glass shards for our CARRY Bottles. The old glass is collected from the region's glass containers, processed and then processed as shards in the glassworks. In order for the old glass to be usable, it is very important to properly separate the types and colors of glass :)
Are you wondering why we don't use more recycled glass? We would love to, but with a higher proportion of broken glass, the glass would unfortunately no longer be transparent. More recycled glass is only used for green glass and brown glass.
Our CARRY Bottles are made from soda-lime glass. In the glassworks, the old glass shards are melted together with quartz sand, lime and soda. The use of old glass reduces the required melting temperature, so that we not only save material but also a lot of energy! This makes soda-lime glass the most sustainable type of glass for drinking bottles 😊

In the glassworks, the glass melting process runs continuously and bottles are produced non-stop, amongst others our CARRY bottles. Production cannot be switched off, as the molten glass would cool down and clog up the machines. As a result, the change to a new glass color is a gradual process and bottles are produced with the unwanted mixed glass color and melted down again immediately. This is where our CARRY Green Bottle comes in! We use this mixed glass color for our CARRY bottles, resulting in our particularly sustainable Green Bottle.
In our production facility in Hehlen in southern Lower Saxony, we print the glass blanks and package and ship them from there.
We work closely with our partner company, which has built up outstanding expertise in printing over decades and also places an emphasis on sustainability in production.
We then sell the finished printed drinking bottles through our online shop, through retailers across Europe or with an individual label to companies.
From our office in Berlin we take care of all your concerns, sales and marketing. Our CARRYs are suitable for carbonated drinks, dishwasher safe, leak-proof and free from harmful substances - with these great functions and lovely designs, we want to inspire you to sustainability that brings joy.
If your CARRY Bottle breaks, you can simply dispose of it in the glass recycling container. This way it will be added back to the glass cycle and new CARRYs can be created :)

From the idea to the printed CARRY Bottle
Would you like to know more about printing?
How does an unprinted glass blank actually become a printed CARRY bottle with a special design? From the design, through processing, print preparation and visualization, to the final print, it is a long journey that we would like to take you on in the next slides :)
First of all, you need a really good idea for a design - that's why we're always looking for inspiration and are happy to receive your requests and suggestions!
Some designs are created by us as a team, others are designed by artists and then there is the possibility of you putting your own design on the CARRY Bottles as an individual printing project !
Once the design is finished, we check it down to the last detail and prepare it for printing. There are different printing requirements for our screen printing and digital printing processes.
In screen printing, a screen must be created for each color to be printed. This is not necessary in digital printing.
In the last step, the CARRY Bottles are printed by our partner company in Lower Saxony. Different machines are used for screen printing and digital printing, both of which can print hundreds of bottles per hour. Finally, Mesut and Antonia check the quality of the bottles, screw the lids on and lovingly package everything for you :)
Why are our drinking bottles made of glass?
Drinking bottles are usually made of glass, plastic, aluminum or stainless steel. The choice of material has a strong influence on the drinking experience, because the material affects, for example, the taste of the water, the quality of the water and the durability of the bottle.
We chose glass because it has great product properties that are perfect for our CARRY Bottles and simply convinced us 😊
Glass is harmless to health
Glass has long been used to package food and drinks - and for good reason. Glass is BPA-free, contains no plasticizers and does not release any harmful substances into the water. This also applies when stored for long periods or exposed to sunlight (which is not the case with a plastic bottle, by the way).
In addition, glass has a smooth surface on which germs and dirt cannot settle so quickly. This makes glass particularly hygienic and easy to clean.
Glass is functional
Glass is super functional and glass bottles can be used for a variety of liquids. Glass is heat-resistant, robust and strong enough to hold carbonated drinks.
Glass is tasteless
Unlike bottles made of plastic, aluminum or stainless steel, bottles made of glass have no taste of their own. The glass is completely tasteless and therefore does not change the taste of your drink, regardless of whether you fill your bottle with water, tea or juice.
Why do we use soda-lime glass?
Did you know that there are many different types of glass?
Window panes, test tubes, wine bottles - different types of glass are used depending on the industry and requirements profile.
The conventional glass in the food industry (think of water/wine/beer bottles and jam jars) is soda-lime glass. We also use this for our CARRY Bottles!
Soda-lime glass is the most sustainable glass
The soda-lime glass consists mainly of quartz sand, lime and soda - and of used glass! In our case, from around 60% old glass shards that are collected from the region's glass containers and melted down again. This reduces the material consumption and the required melting temperature. This makes soda-lime glass the most sustainable type of glass for drinking bottles 😊
In addition, the soda-lime glass can be recycled endlessly without losing its functionality. You can simply dispose of it in the conventional glass recycling containers.
Interesting Fact: The borosilicate glass, which is used for many other bottles, must not be recycled in the glass recycling container as it would contaminate the waste glass!

Soda-lime glass is high quality
Sure, our glass bottles are comparatively heavy - but the soda-lime glass we use is also particularly robust and high-quality. The glass has a great feel and the weight means the bottle sits comfortably in your hand. You can immediately tell that our CARRY Bottles are of high quality.
Why do we have three sizes?
Both our drinking bottles and the matching protective covers are available in three sizes: 1000 ml, 700 ml and 400 ml. The different sizes are particularly suitable for different purposes. And the motifs also vary :)
1 litre CARRY Bottle
The 1 liter bottle is 29 cm high, has a diameter of 8.3 cm and weighs approx. 650 g.
We especially like to use it as a carafe when we have visitors. And of course it can't be missing from our desks!
700 ml CARRY Bottle
The 700ml CARRY is 26 cm high, has a diameter of 7.3 cm and weighs approx. 510 g.
This size is a real all-rounder! You can use it in the office or at home, but it also fits in any backpack :)
400 ml CARRY Bottle
The 400 ml glass bottle is 17 cm high, has a diameter of 7.3 cm and weighs approx. 350 g. The small CARRY is the perfect size for on the go and fits in almost any handbag. It also fits well under any tap, so you can easily refill it at any time :)
