From the PET bottle to the sleeve
How are the CARRY sleeves made?
We have developed our protective covers with a particular focus on sustainability and functionality - they should be of higher quality, more durable and more sustainable than many other protective covers. That is why we designed our CARRY Sleeves from soft, vegan felt made from recycled PET bottles. We also chose a 4mm thickness for the felt so that it protects the glass bottles particularly well.
The sleeves are manufactured in a family business in Bavaria and sewn there by hand. The PET felt is certified by the Global Recycling Standard (GRS) and with the sleeves we are making a contribution to the circular economy.
Our sleeves made from recycled PET felt are a real upcycling product!
PET is a plastic used for drinking bottles. These PET bottles can be recycled, melted down and made into new bottles. However, PET can only be recycled a very limited number of times with consistent quality. When the PET can no longer be used for drinking bottles, it can be upcycled. And that's exactly what happens with the PET bottles we use for our protective cases :)
To make felt from PET bottles, the bottles are sorted by color and processed into fibers. The fibers are then woven into felt mats and dyed in our desired colors - this is done by a supplier in Italy or Germany, depending on the color.
Did you know that fabrics, including our rPET felts, are sold by the meter and are therefore stored on huge rolls?
By the way, the "r" in rPET stands for recycled :)
The felt mats then arrive at our supplier in Bavaria. There, the individual parts for the protective covers are punched out of the felt mats. Care is taken to keep as little waste as possible - and we use the leftovers as straps for our CARRY Brush :)
The felt pieces are then lovingly hand-sewn into CARRY sleeves and provided with a practical carrying strap made of cotton and a label made of washable PayPal.
With our CARRY Sleeve we have designed a sustainable product that we hope you will enjoy! The protective covers are available in various bright colors, they are super functional and even washable at 30°. If you get tired of your sleeve, you can simply turn it inside out and give it a new look ;)
If your sleeve is broken or you no longer like it, we invite you to use it for creative upcycling. You can use the fabric for other projects, make something out of it or cut the sleeve into coasters for glasses or drinking bottles :)
If you no longer have any use for it, you can simply dispose of it in the residual waste.

From the idea to the protective cover
This is what makes the CARRY Sleeves special
We wanted a bag for the CARRY Bottle that would make it easy to carry the bottle and that would also protect it at the same time. This idea led to the creation of the CARRY Sleeve in 2019 - in a shape specially developed for CARRY.
Why should you get a CARRY Sleeve?
The decision for or against a protective case is not just a question of appearance. Of course, we have made a lot of effort to design a minimalist and stylish sleeve. And we are always choosing new great colors :) But functionality was always the main focus - from Protection, thermal insulation and the many advantages of the material.
Protection
The sleeve is the perfect protection for your drinking bottle. The shape is tailor-made and has been precisely matched to your CARRY Bottle. This means that it fits like a glove and also looks great when you carry it with you on the go.
Your sleeve protects your water bottle against shocks and bumps. It also protects the design, e.g. from scratches from keys or abrasion from sand.
Insulation
The sleeve provides thermal insulation for your bottle. So if you've made yourself a hot tea, it will stay warmer for longer with the sleeve. Likewise, cold drinks will stay colder for longer, which is particularly practical when you're out and about in the summer.
Hot water bottle replacement
This may sound a little strange at first, but the CARRY Sleeve with a bottle of hot water is a great replacement for a hot water bottle! We in the team like to use the bottle alone as a hot water bottle, but sometimes the bottle is still too hot - then the sleeve is perfect. It releases the heat much more slowly, so you have a warm hot water bottle for a long time.
In addition, the sleeve is super comfortable and nice to touch - like a hot water bottle cover :)
Why are our protective covers made of rPET?
Most bottle covers are made of neoprene, which is quite thin and does not provide sufficient protection. In addition, it is usually not recycled and comes from Asia. Other protective covers made of natural materials (cork, wool felt, etc.) are often not robust and durable enough, not water-resistant or not vegan.
For our CARRY Sleeves we chose rPET felt because it offers the best functionality and most applications :)
Sustainable upcycling material
When choosing a new material, sustainability plays a big role for us and the rPET felt really convinced us, even though it is made of plastic! It is a true upcycling material, because the rPET felt gives PET bottles a new life :) In addition, the material is manufactured in Europe and processed into the sleeve in Germany.
rPET is vegan
Although the material is called "felt," it is 100% free of animal products. The rPET felt is based on wool felt, but is made entirely from PET.
The other components of our sleeve are also completely vegan.
Durable & washable
We have designed the protective covers to be very robust and durable. The material can be washed at 30° and kept looking good for a long time with a lint shaver.
Why is the label made of papyrus?
Papyr is also known as vegan leather or washable paper and is a great alternative to both materials. It is waterproof, washable at 30°, flexible and super durable. It can also be printed on, making it perfect for the label on our sleeve.
What is Papyr made of?
Papyr consists mainly of cellulose, which is obtained from wood. The Papyr we use is FSC-certified and has the Oeko Tex Standard 100.
To ensure stability and durability, a little latex is added to the cellulose as a binding agent. Other components are water and color pigments.
Where is the papyrus made?
The paper used for our sleeves is manufactured in Germany, by a medium-sized company in southern Germany. The material then arrives as white rolls at our partner in Bavaria and is dyed there on site with our own colors.
What else is Papyr used for?
Papyr is a very versatile material. It is also suitable for food contact and is used for bread baskets and placemats, among other things. But the most well-known application is jeans labels - the labels above the back pocket.
