Already for International Women's Day 2021, Naïma from GLITTER POWER CLUB, a design agency from France, has drawn three beautiful, colorful designs with a lot of girl power for us.

Update: After the designs POWER UP, INCLUSIVE and SOUL SISTERS were very well received by both you and us and have long since sold out, we at CARRY and Naïma from Glitter Power Club got together again in 2023. The jointly developed design Love is Love speaks to our hearts. Take a look:

And if you want to learn more about the origins and motivation for the Love is Love design, then readHEREFeel free to come in. We are always happy to receive suggestions and requests for new designs :)

N/aïma, please tell us something about yourself and your art...

Hi! I'm Naïma, the designer behind Glitter Power Club, a design agency based in France. I create patterns for all kinds of printable surfaces - clothes, bedding, wallpaper, gift wrap, stationery, home accessories and much more.

My illustrations and patterns are always very colorful and humorous. I usually start with colored pencils and brushes and begin to paint my ideas. I don't follow any specific rules, but mainly my intuition. The energy around me, the music I listen to or the spirit of the times inspire me. Then I trace the motif on the computer until everything feels perfect.

I love my work and want to give people something positive with my colorful motifs. It is my small contribution to a better world.

Where does your inspiration come from?

I find my inspiration in my values. It's really important to me to show women and diversity. The more we are surrounded by female subjects, gender and ethnic minorities, the more diversity will become the norm. When I draw, I also like to listen to podcasts that deal with such social issues. I also like to surround myself with things that I see beauty in and with colors that make me happy. I always have something in my head that I want to draw. I can never do everything I want to do. I don't think I'll ever get bored!

What subjects do you like to draw the most?

I love painting women and diversity. But I also like painting funny animals, crazy tropical patterns, fruits, anything that makes me smile.

What inspires you? And what do you particularly like to draw?

Nature motifs. I'm interested in how things work. I look closely at everything I draw. How does a crab work, where are the joints? Where does the next leaf come from on a plant and how? How exactly are the feathers of a bird constructed? I usually draw very anatomically. At the same time, I always try to incorporate an aesthetic. I do draw mythical creatures sometimes, but never too abstractly. My motifs always have to be logical.

What does sustainability mean to you?

Sustainability is super important to me, so I'm also very proud when I can work with sustainable brands. I would like to see all major industries make a sincere effort to become more sustainable and for governments to take more drastic measures. Unfortunately, private interests seem to be increasingly stronger and have the last word. But I'm an optimist and I believe in change. Our earth is so wonderful.
